For he today that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother.’ - William Shakespeare.In the Autumn of 1847 Goffredo Mameli sat down and wrote ‘Il Canto degli Italiani’, a piece that has has since become known as L’Inno di Mameli, the national anthem of Italy.
